Home to over 8,000 animals, the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium is one of the most popular attractions in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and one of only six major combination zoos and aquariums in America. First opened in 1898, the zoo and aquarium have expanded many times, including the addition of a Children’s Zoo in the 1940s, an AquaZoo in the 1960s, the Tropical Forest in the 1990s, an off-site Conservation Center in the 2000s, and a massive Islands exhibit in the 2010s.
On a recent try to Portsmouth, New Hampshire we had the opportunity to explore a popular National Historic Landmark, the USS Albacore Park. The park includes a maritime museum, memorial garden, and the 206 foot long submarine, all open to the public to enjoy and explore.
This week we’re celebrating the start of football season by sharing our tour of Acrisure Stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers and UPitt Panthers. On a recent trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, we had the opportunity to tour the 68,000 seat stadium and many popular areas of the stadium, as well as a few spots the typical ticket holder doesn’t get to see. The tour is fun and engaging and everyone (even us Giants fans!) will have a good time.
On a recent weekend in Portsmouth, New Hampshire we had the opportunity to explore the Seacoast Science Center, a marine science nonprofit with a beautiful, hands-on museum located inside Odirone Point State Park, in Rye, New Hampshire. Opened in 1992, the center offers several, hands on indoor exhibits featuring maritime life, conservation programs, and the history of the area, as well as numerous programs and special events on (and in!) the water that the whole family will enjoy.
On a quick layover in Augusta, Maine during our recent road trip, we had the opportunity to tour Old Fort Western, America’s oldest wooden French and Indian War era Garrison and a National Historic Landmark. The fort is very family friendly and has several hands-on opportunities kids will enjoy.
