10 Marriott Hotels We Love

Our family has been fans of Marriott hotel properties for over 20 years. At first, we started staying at Marriott hotels because of their location; virtually every trip we planned, there was a Marriott hotel nearby (and that still holds true today). Over time, we started to notice the numerous amenities, cleanliness of the rooms, and the friendliness of the staff no matter the property we visited. We joined the Marriott Bonvoy rewards program (in its first iteration) years ago and have accrued many bonuses, perks, and free hotel stays over the years. 

While we have stayed at literally dozens of Marriott properties from Las Vegas, Nevada to Toronto, Ontario, we typically choose the Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites, Renaissance, and traditional Marriott brand of hotels. Residence Inns are ideal for families as they offer more space, a full kitchen with a full size refrigerator, full morning breakfast and evening snacks during the week, and pool and laundry facilities on site. Renaissance and traditional Marriott brand hotels usually have full service restaurants, concierge lounges, and other amenities desirable for the business class.

This week, we’re sharing 10 Marriott properties throughout America we especially enjoyed and some of our favorite nearby attractions. And check back in the future, we’re hoping to add additional locations. 

10 Marriott Hotels We Love:

Wentworth by the Sea in New Castle, New Hampshire is located less than five minutes from popular Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The resort offers is a full service spa and fitness center, full service restaurant, indoor and outdoor pools, and tennis courts.
We love the location because the resort overlooks the the Wentworth Marina (guests can reserve a variety of tours and cruises) and is quiet and tucked away from the bustle of downtown Portsmouth, but is an easy five minute drive to Portsmouth (and you’ll pass The Ice House, which has great ice cream, on your drive).
Our favorite parts of the property include the outdoor pool complex, located across the driveway from the main resort with an “Adult Only” lounge area and food and beverage service throughout the day; The Latitudes Restaurant, which overlooks the marina and has indoor and outdoor dining;  and beautifully appointed rooms with heated bathroom floors and views of the harbor.

Boston Marriott Long Wharf in Boston, Massachusetts is located in the heart of the downtown waterfront area. The hotel is shaped like a ship with a bow, stern, and deck design and includes over 400 rooms and suites across seven floors. 
We love the location because you can park your car and walk to just about every popular location in town. The hotel is located right on Long Wharf and next door to the New England Aquarium and Quincy Market. The Boston Harbor Cruises boats can bring visitors to Charlestown and even to the North and South Shores of Boston. 
Our favorite parts of the property include the outdoor patio with views of the harbor, full service restaurant Waterline, indoor pool and fitness center, and accessibility to many popular attractions (and endless dining options).

Renaissance Providence Downtown Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island dates back to the 1920s and was once a Masonic Temple.  The hotel was beautifully restored in 2017 and has almost 300 rooms and suites and several meeting and convention spaces.
We love the location because the hotel overlooks the State Capitol building (check out the view from our window in the photo below) and is within walking distance to dozens of dining and shopping options and a short drive to many attractions.
Our favorite parts of the property include the beautiful lobby and lounge areas and the Public Kitchen and Bar, open for breakfast and dinner and drinks in the evening.

Newport Marriott in Newport, Rhode Island is one of our most favorite hotels. I have stayed here at least 5 times, both with family and various groups of girlfriends over the years. The hotel has an elegant nautical decor and vibe with two bars and a large restaurant with views of the marina. There is also an indoor pool, spa, fitness center, and meeting spaces. 
We love the location because it is within walking distance of just about every popular attraction, restaurant, and shop. The hotel is waterfront with easy access to parking and to the Newport trolley.
Our favorite parts of the property include the nautical design, exterior balconies that look out over the marina and interior balconies that look into the center of the hotel, numerous dining spaces, and the trolley stop right outside the hotel.

The Alexandrian in Alexandria, Virginia is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. Named after city founders John and Philip Alexander, the hotel has almost 250 rooms and suites, event space, and is pet friendly. 
We love the location because the hotel is located on King Street, named one of the “Great Streets in America”, in the heart of the city. Guests can park their car and walk to hundreds of dining and shopping options and historical attractions, as well as the waterfront boardwalk area.
Our favorite part of the property is the courtyard space with plenty of lounge areas, tables for dining, and winter igloos, attached to the King & Rye Restaurant.

Renaissance Boca Raton Hotel in Boca Raton, Florida has the relaxing, calming vibe of a tropical oasis. We have family who live nearby and when our whole family descends on the area, members of the family will quickly “volunteer” to stay at this hotel because we like it so much. The hotel includes almost 200 rooms, the full service Umbria restaurant and outdoor Oasis Cafe.
We love the location because it is one street off the intersection of North and South Military Trail and Glades Road (Route 808), a quick on and off to Interstate 95, and nearby tons of shopping and dining options.
Our favorite part of the property is the tropical, outdoor pool area. There is a waterfall cascading into the pool, a private hot tub area, tons of lounge spaces, an outdoor cafe with cabana service, and even life size lawn games. The hotel also offers afternoon snacks in the lobby and a free shuttle to several amenities around town.

World Golf Village Renaissance St Augustine Resort in St Augustine, Florida is located inside the World Golf Village, which includes the World Golf Hall of Fame, PGA Golf Academy, several golf courses, and the IMAX Theater. Inside the hotel there are over 300 rooms, Villagio Grill and Bar at Villagio, spa and fitness center, and daily activities for kids.
We love the location because the hotel is tucked away from the busier downtown areas but a pretty and easy drive to several historical attractions in St. Augustine, the oldest city in America.
Our favorite parts of the property include the outdoor grounds, with a massive round pool, large hot tub, and plenty of lounge areas; massive indoor atrium area with running rivers and bridge and views straight up nine floors (get a better look when taking the glass elevators). 

Residence Inn Orlando at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida is centrally located near major Orlando attractions. The hotel has 350 rooms in several configurations, and the indoor dining room is quite large with several stations for morning breakfast options. There is plenty of free parking on site and the hotel is close to major roads and highways.
We love the location because the hotel is literally one mile from SeaWorld and Discovery Cove, 10 minutes from the main entrance to Disney World, and 15 minutes from the main entrance to Universal Studios. 
Our favorite part of the property is the outdoor pool complex, with a massive pool and waterfalls, outdoor BBQ and lounge areas, and sport court.

Fairfield Inn and Suites Moab in Moab, Utah opened in 2014, followed by the adjacent SpringHill Suites hotel in 2017. Between the two hotels there are almost 200 rooms and suites, a full breakfast buffet every morning, and self service laundry facilities on site.
We love the location because it is less than 5 minutes from the entrance to Arches National Park and less than 5 minutes from the downtown Moab area. It is also the closest hotel to Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse State Park. 
Our favorite part of the property is the outdoor pool area. Shared with the adjoining SpringHill Suites, the complex includes two large pool, with a zero entry side, waterfalls, two hot tubs, sandy play area with tons of games (table tennis, chess, Connect 4, Jenga), firepits, and a wide variety of lounging and dining options (with plenty of shade).

Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa in Avon (Vail Valley), Colorado. Spread out over 19 acres, the resort includes 230 hotel rooms, suites, and one, two, and three bedroom condominiums that feature full kitchens, five-piece bathrooms, and gas fireplaces.
We love the location because it is at the base of Beaver Creek Mountain. During the winter, guests can take the Riverfront Express gondola directly outside the hotel (in front of the Marketplace and Starbucks) that connect the hotels to Beaver Creek trails. The resort is also within walking distance to the village of Avon with shops, restaurants, and Nottingham Park.
Our favorite parts of the property include the massive (Olympic size) outdoor pool and infinity hot tubs overlooking the mountain, 40 miles of riverfront walking and biking trails along the Eagle River, tons of outdoor fire pits and lounge areas, the beautiful lobby with a double sided fireplace and plenty of places to lounge, and great dining options.
