There are SO many places to explore in Dallas- my family could have stayed for a year and still not have seen everything! Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay that long, but we vow to return soon! If you’re planning on exploring multiple spots on my list, consider purchasing a CityPass, which will give you discounts and allow you to skip many lines. More info here. While many locations having parking lots and there are several metered options on main roads, consider riding with DART, Dallas’ public transportation system. Learn more about it here. George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas

Located on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, the George W Bush Presidential Center opened in May 2013 and offers many hands on opportunities to learn about American (and world!) history at the start of the 21st century, Bush’s presidency. The museum is designed around four principles that President and Mrs. Bush valued: freedom, responsibility, opportunity, and compassion. The archives include over 70 million pages of documents and 4 million photographs. Individuals may make appointments for research room access.

Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, Texas

The Perot Museum of Nature and Science, located in downtown Dallas, Texas, has to be one of the largest museums we have ever visited- and definitely one of the most fun science centers we have explored! The building is equivalent in size to a 14 story building! Plan on spending the better portion of a full day exploring this 180,000+ square foot museum filled with five floors of exhibits, although could spend days here and still not see everything. Start at the top and work your way down the floors and through 11 exhibition halls.

George H.W. Bush Presidential Library & Museum in College Station, Texas

The George H.W. Bush Presidential Library Center, located on the campus of Texas A&M University in College Station, is one of the most popular sites in Texas since it opened in 1997. My family found it to be one of more child friendly presidential libraries of the 13 libraries and museums overseen by the US National Archives. (Check out our tips for visiting the Clinton Presidential Library and Museum in Little Rock, Arkansas and the FRD Library and Museum in Hyde Park, New York). The Center has frequent family friendly events, ranging from book signings and guest lecturers to film screenings and, most recently, a visit from the World Series Trophy (the nearby Astros won the World Series in 2017). Full disclosure: We’re NY Giants fans. Like, season-ticket-holder NY Giants fans. So when our friends and family heard we were going to visit the home of our arch rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, they asked if they should have bail money on hold. Not to worry – real Giants fans keep it classy! Plus, we’d heard how beautiful and enormous (if you can use those words to describe a sporting venue) AT&T Stadium is, so we had to check it out for ourselves. Our son still insisted on frowning or “booing” in every photo.
